“Friday Were in Love” Camille’s Journey

I had every reason to be a cynic and not believe in love and marriage, with a crazy back story and an abusive past I just wasn’t convinced love could last and marriages could stay strong. That’s about the time the sweetest, most compassionate rocket scientist with the cutest smile showed up in my life and decided it was time to convince me there are amazing men in the world! He didn’t stop there, he did his best to convince me there are amazing marriages, and after a year of dating, maybe we should tie the knot ourselves.

Still hesitant even with Mr. Practically Perfect, he set out a plan to convince me we could always have romance, we could always be in love, and we could be happily together forever. This included an agreement to take me on one date a week no matter what! We decided the only way we’d stay accountable to our plan was to start a blog just to share our creative ideas and journal our experience, which is how www.fridaywereinlove.com (@fridaywereinlove) was born! And you know what, I can honestly say six years of marriage later this dating business actually works!

After a few years and a surprising amount of interest, I opened up and wrote my first post about going through an abusive divorce, which made me believe in the power of blogging and connecting to others even more. People kept asking for more personal details of our lives, and a few more lifestyle posts trickled in. When I opened up about struggling with infertility one mother’s day, we once again couldn’t believe the outpouring of love and support. The day I announced our infertility miracle pregnancy was one of the happiest days of my life! I’ve never received so many emails, comments, text messages, DMs, etc. telling me people were cheering out loud and crying as they read the news. It was just a natural thing to start sharing pregnancy and motherhood.

I’ve come full-circle now blogging as my part-time job, and staying home with my miracle baby the rest of the time. I’ve been so lucky and so blessed to do it, and feel so honored that we get to share something that inspires couples to invest in their marriages, and shares the joys of parenthood and a happy life after so many years of struggle and pain. Content now includes our travels around the world, parenting, recipes, healthy and fitness, home projects, but at the heart of it all is still our project to go on at least one date a week and share it!

“Cindy’s Journey”

Hi! My name is Cindy and I co- run a blog called Triumphs and Trials where we provide a safe, and uplifting place for those wanting to gain knowledge and understanding about infertility. Spreading infertility awareness is very close to my heart because it is something I have struggled with for almost ten years. Through all the ups and downs my husband and I have been able to have our two miracle daughters and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t realize what incredible blessings they are! I would love to be able to have a small gaggle of children but I’m learning to embrace my amazing family of four and live this life I’ve been given to the fullest. Lately I have been trying to focus on what I do have instead of what I might not have and it has made all the difference.

Over the past few years as my husband and I have tried to add to our family we have suffered 14 failed rounds of IUI and 2 rounds of IVF that ended in heart breaking chemical pregnancies. Through all of the pain and sadness I have also felt so much joy and felt the deepest love from those around us. I have learned that people are good- I have seen firsthand the amazing earthly angels who surround me each day. I have learned that serving others truly is the best way to feel happy. And I have learned to seek the tender mercies given to me each and every day.

I’m also a survivor of the Columbine High School shootings that happened in April 1999. Going through that trial has helped shape me into who I am today. I have learned to lean on my faith in God and I believe with all my heart that time heals pain and that things won’t always be as bad or hard as they feel in the moment.

Through all my trials I try to focus on what they have taught me and how I can help someone else. I’m a work in progress and some days are really hard. But I’m truly grateful for the journey and everything I have learned along the way.

Crystals’ Journey

“About 6 years ago I branded myself as The Wannabe Balanced Mom.

My blog has been a way for me to share my messy imbalanced life and my attempts to clean it up. Like most women, I crave productivity. I like getting things done and checking things off my to-do list. But often times that triggers major imbalance in my life. Balance seems like one of those things you can’t quite grasp.

It’s like trying to be perfect. We all know it’s impossible to achieve, but we continue to strive for it each day. Blogging has filled a need for me and has been a great creative outlet. I enjoy sharing my life lessons and business tips with like minded momprenuers.”

“Two Trendy Teachers Journey”

Two Trendy Teachers “Our Journey”:

Hey y’all! We’re Darci & Amy from the blog/Instagram Two Trendy Teachers. We are both elementary teachers based in Oklahoma & Texas who love fashion & shopping just as much as we love educating little human minds! Our friendship began at our alma mater of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma almost 10 years ago! Over the years we have been Phi Lamb sorority sisters, class mates, neighbors, roomies, stood by each other as we each said “I do!”, co-workers & finally… co-bloggers! Balancing life on a teacher’s salary & wanting to buy ALL THE CUTE CLOTHES can be pretty tough (ESPECIALLY if you’re married to a teacher as well… which we both are!) That’s why the goal of our blog is to have a place to share inspiration, ideas & tips for those lovely ladies out there who love having style on a budget… like us!
Speaking of our blog, it’s turning 1 year old this October & what an amazing year it has been! We love being a part of this sweet Instagram/blogging community & we cannot wait to see how Two Trendy Teachers will grow & evolve over the next year!
So much love & appreciation to Journey Five for allowing us to share our passion for fashion & “Our Journey” that has spanned over the last 10 years. Cheers to the next 10 years & many more to come!

“Everyday Ellis Journey”

Hey! My name is Karli and I’m the blogger behind the blog Everyday Ellis (formerly Teach Shop Love). A little less than a year ago I started my Instagram account to share with other teachers different outfits they could wear to work that are professional and cute, but also work for the classroom. After a couple months it began to grow more than I ever thought possible and I was able to post more than just teacher outfits. Earlier this month I was able to rebrand and that was when Everyday Ellis was born. This will still have the same fun modest outfits and newlywed adventures and I can’t wait to see where else it grows. I would’ve had no idea a year ago that this journey would have taken me where it did. I feel so grateful! When I’m not blogging I’m teaching kindergarten or hanging out with my hubby or little pup. I love fashion, playing soccer, and searching for the best oreo shake (mmmm yummy!). I can’t wait to see where the rest of my journey takes me and feel so honored that @journeyfive wanted to share my journey.

“Sweet Charli’s Journey”

“I have always dreamed of being a stay-at-home mother and wife. I married my high school and junior high sweetheart AND elementary crush! Though being a stay-at-home mother is wonderful, it has its challenging times too. Balancing children, housework, daily duties, and hobbies is not easy but is so important in finding happiness. I make sure to set aside some time for myself frequently so that I can regain motivation to be a good mom and wife. I believe that doing things for yourself is not being selfish, but rather a vital key to rejuvinate you to be a better mother, wife, and person.”

Kristen’s Journey

Hey!! I’m Kristen from Love, Lipstick, and Pearls. I’m a wife, girl mama, sister, and work finance by day and blog at night (after the littles are asleep). I live off Sprite, Mexican food, and gummy bears and I’m obsessed with the Shonda Rhimes TGIT shows. After graduating college, I missed my sorority days of Chi Omega, and needed a creative outlet to share my love of fashion, lifestyle, and my beauty addiction. That’s when Love, Lipstick, and Pearls was born! It’s been a fun way to document our lives, share our family adventures, personal style, beauty and hair tips, and more! Blogging has been a wonderful way for me to connect with others, people I would never have the opportunity to friend, and develop great relationships with my readers and other bloggers. It’s been fun, challenging, and more than anything- rewarding! I’ve found a wonderful tribe of amazing women through blogging, and I’m thankful to have them. My personal journey has often been an uphill battle and I’m happy that it’s finally plateaued. Through all of my trials, the most important thing I’ve learned and lived by is to choose happiness and continue to pray. “Life is meant to be enjoyed, not just endured” – Gordon B Hinckley This is one of my favorite quotes and is a reminder to me that there is always something to be thankful for, to love, and to enjoy. My favorite and best part of my journey has been my family. They are the most important part of my life and everything I ever dreamed of. My husband and two little girls are the biggest joys of my life. We love going to the pool, being silly together, and staying up late and watching family movies. I love being a wife and mother, it’s absolutely been the most enjoyable journey of all! Thank you Journey Five for including me and sharing my journey with you!

“Caitlin’s Journey”

Here is Caitlin’s “Your Journey”

When I first began blogging 6 years ago while in Graduate School I did it to enjoy my creative side. I’ve been a writer from the second I could hold a pencil. I’d write in middle school and actually came in 2nd place for a Young Author’s Award ( proud moment for this little author ). I would fill notebooks of stories, characters I loved and connected with. I’d have my Mom re-read some of my stories too which was always exciting to see her reaction and hear her thoughts on what I should change or keep.
It’s been therapy to me. When we moved across country last year, I was still writing in this blog ( under Fierce, Fabulous and Fit ) but decided to get more serious about it. Blogging wasn’t at all like it was when I first started which was mostly writing down my thoughts and what was happening in our life ( I was engaged and planning a wedding too! ) so it was great to connect with other woman across the world who were in the same boat as me. Fast forward a few years to getting married, becoming pregnant after 8 months of marriage, moving into our first home, having our daughter and then moving to the South; it’s been a heck of a time and I’ve loved every minute of it.

Blogging has a way to keep me grounded. I’m a work-a-holic. I’m rarely sitting still and if I am, I’m multi-tasking. No longer can I sit and watch a show or movie with my husband because I’m constantly working, thinking of new plans, researching play groups to join or collaborating with a brand. I used to worse. In college I worked 5 part time jobs along with going to school full time. My roommates probably thought I was crazy and I certainly took a huge toll on my relationship with Zach while we were dating.

It’s been rewarding. I remember when I first got my first blogging campaign. An actual paid sponsor wanted me to write something and although it seems like pennies now, I felt so special being a picked blogger to write about this product. Blogging can take you places you never thought possible. It can bring you to meet people you never thought were exactly like you, but are! It can help your income, it can help your emotional state and it can help you become a better version of yourself. You’ve got a voice so use it!

Blogging has a way of bring people together. I used to not tell people I blogged. I hated being associated with a ‘blogger’ because it was ‘uncool’ or no one really got it except other bloggers. 6 years ago it was more of an online diary and although I still write personal posts and why its important to share those with your reader,s I also realize it’s so much bigger then I ever thought. It’s a way to bring us all together- sharing similar stories, experiences, ideas and cultures from all around the world. You’re connecting with strangers that all seem to be your best friends. Of course there are those mean/rude comments you’ll get from time to time but shake ’em off! Everyone has a bigger fight to lea so don’t worry about it or seek advice from other blogging buddies/friends.

For me, I think my journey has lead me exactly where I need to be. At a mere few days old of being 30 now, I realize my 20’s was just a big test to get me where I need to go. I feel so blessed to be able to share my thoughts, ideas and inspirations with you all every day right here on my blog. I’m so humbled you all think me as a friend because I feel the same about you! I also feel encouraged, motivated and determined to keep reaching out to all of you, sharing YOUR stories and making sure we all feel connected, loved and mattered. I hope you keep following me on this journey because big things are happening soon and I want you to be apart of it!

Thanks to JourneyFive for allowing me to contribute my thoughts and opinions of my own journey and what makes me unique.

“Summer Shorts & Stripes” Cute Modest Shorts

Let me back up and start from the beginning, these are actually the item of modest clothing that prompted me to start my blog. 3 summers ago I bought these shorts from Journey Five on Jane.com in two colors, mint and coral. I was SO happy with them I posted a picture of me wearing them and gushed about them on my personal instagram account. One of my husband’s friends commented that I was a natural advertiser… and it made me realize, you know what, yes, I am and this is not the audience I should be telling this to! I need to be telling girls, girls who actually want to know where to find cute modest clothing! And behold, my blog was born! All thanks to these shorts ?

Modest fashion blogger Modest Goddess wears her favorite cute modest shorts! The perfect shorts for staying modest in the summer!

These shorts slide on like leggings, hug like spandex, and look like colored denim. I’m simply in love! They have a super wide elastic waistband, faux front zipper, faux front pockets, and real back pockets. They are just-above-the knee-length shorts and I like how tight they are on my lower thighs. They don’t gape or flap! Like I said I’ve had them for 3 summers now and they’re going strong!

Amy’s Journey

When I think about my journey in life, as I look back at my past, and contemplate my future, I notice that I really try to focus on the things that give me joy and purpose as well as passion. A few of those precious things include; my sweet family, whom I love so much, my work as a musician, my interest in healthy living, and my love for creativity!

In ‘my journey’ so far, I feel like I have been blessed with neat opportunities that help me continue to do what I love! At the same time, I feel lucky to be able to be a mother to my three beautiful daughters, and a wife to my supportive husband, while perusing my personal goals and interests.

In the past few years, I have been able to compose and publish piano music, which has given me lasting connections and experiences that have been so fun and unexpected.

Some of my favorite things in ‘my journey’, in music have been to meet and connect with people through sharing my music. My most recent ventures have been to be a part of music videos! Through this I feel that I have been able to share my music more easily and that it can accessible all over the world! I have heard from people that have enjoyed my music from Mexico, to Norway, to Washington D.C. It is so fun to hear how music can touch people across geographic boundaries and all around the world! Most of my music is instrumental so it passes through the language boundary as well!

I appreciate the opportunities where my journey has taken me so far and I look forward to continuing my journey in life and look forward to the future.
